Tuscaloosa Airshow 2010 - Eli flies!

This past weekend Jamie and Eli received VIP tickets to the airshow in Tuscaloosa. Jamie, through work, has connections with one of the participants in the airshow. Not only did they receive the VIP treatment, parking, food, seating, Eli was also able to fly in one of the trick planes after the show had ended. At first, when Jamie asked for my "go ahead" on Eli flying my answer was a resounding "NO!" I didn't even take a moment to think about it. There was no way on God's green earth I was going to let my baby boy up in a trick plane or any small two-seater plane for that matter. However, with a little persuasion from some friends and family members, I had a change of heart?? So here is my Eli flying in an MX2 over Bryant Denny stadium in Tuscaloosa - HOW COOL IS THAT!

Eli by the way is in the front seat! I have more pictures that I will post but am short on time right now. For now, I am going to quote a little Leann Womack

Eli,

"I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give fate a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

Dance, Eli, Dance!!!

Prayers Requested

I have started following an amazing new blog that you will see listed on my sidebar under my blog list... Fly Through Our Window. Well yesterday's post on this blog brought me to my knees before His throne in prayer for someone I know not. But what I do know is that there is a Mom out there named Montye with two beautiful little girls and a husband who loves her very much and she has cancer - chemo, radiation, surgery will only prolong her life, not save it...she needs our prayers, her children need our prayers, her husband needs our prayers, her family and friends need our prayers. Please join me in lifting this Mom up to the Lord and pray for healing and peace. Gotta go love on my babies now - stories such as this make you realize that none of us are promised tomorrow - Make the MOST of every minute you have, Make it count!!!

We Love Our Soccer Player!

This past weekend, Eli & Coach Dad had a soccer tournament in Trussville. They played two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday - well 1&3/4 on Sunday due to weather. Their team won the first game and Eli scored a goal - while playing defender!!! They lost the second game in a nailbiter. I was able to make the two Sunday games and watched them tie their first, in which my little man scored another goal and then the weather hit. We went into a weather delay in second place but only ahead of the third place team by 1 point. Fortunately we were able to get most of our second game in and when they had to call it for weather we were up 4 to 1. Enough to seal our second place finish in the tournament. This meant silver medals for our boys - The Chelsea Sting! We are so proud of our team and thrilled that Eli has decided to stick with soccer. He is an awesome defender and loves the sport. If you ever have the chance to watch him play you should. He is quite the little athlete and this Mom is so proud!

I know the picture quality leaves a little to be desired but it was raining and all I had to snap a picture with was my phone...

A big thanks to Donna, Charlton, Anna Beth and Katie for stopping to watch Eli play (in the rain)- It meant the world to him and his parents :-)!

Our Little Gymnast

Saturday, Jill had her very first gymnastics exhibition at Head-Over-Heels and she loved it! She was so cute out there in her little sparkly pink leotard. The gym floor looked like a hot pink ant hill with all the little gymnasts running around. I look forward to many more of these events.
Jill on beam - in class they only get on the lowered beams but here she got to get on the "high" beam. She was a little nervous but afterwards all she kept saying was, "I was on the high beam, Mom. Did you see that?"
Jill is on the far left - check out that pose.
Her first trophy of her very own - not one big brother or Dad let her have :-)
Eli was so proud of his little sis - and she is so proud of him. This picture was taken after the first game in Eli's soccer tournament, in which he scored a goal - while playing defender!!! He ended up with two goals for the tournament and his team came in second place!
What a proud parents we are - God has truly blessed us with three amazing little kiddos. Our prayer as parents is that we are faithful in raising them to serve Him!

A Big Day

We have such a busy day today and there is excitement in the Alexander house! This weekend Eli's soccer team, The Chelsea Sting, has a soccer tournament in Trussville against teams their own age so that means WE CAN WIN!! They have played up two divisions this season so the season has been rather brutal - but we held our own, even against the big boys so we know we take the "gold" at this tournament!

Today is also Jill's first gymnastics exhibition and I am so excited! I love that she is following in her Mom's footsteps and enjoys flipping and tumbling everywhere! We will have lots of pictures to share and maybe even a little video.

After all our sports excitement, we are headed to Gadsden to our Little Katie-bug's 5th birthday party! Happy Birthday Katie - We love you soooo much!

Oh - and I think one of the best parts to the weekend is that I get to see my family! I miss and love you all so much!
